Aesthetics & Lipotropics
Lipotropic injections have been a mainstay of many weight loss programs for the last decade. They are used to increase metabolism of fats, thereby promoting weight loss. But how do they work?
Lipotropic nutrients are essential to the processing of lipids by the body. The most prominent lipotropic nutrient is choline, which prevents accumulation of triglycerides in the liver by facilitating their export as either bile or VLDLs. Inositol, which also aids in exportation of lipids from the liver, has the additional benefit of increasing sensitivity of serotonin receptors. Since serotonin is a key modulator of satiety, inositol may also help to decrease appetite. Methionine, one of the essential amino acids, is thought to exert its lipotropic effects by decreasing synthesis of triglycerides and cholesterol in the liver. B vitamins are also commonly included in lipotropic injections because they support cellular energy production.
Talon Compounding Pharmacy handmakes lipotropic injections from high-quality raw ingredients in our sterile facility. In addition to the ingredients mentioned above, we have experience making injections containing chromium, vitamin C, and other amino acids. If you would like us to prepare a custom lipotropic blend for your patients, let us know and we will be happy to assist. Call for more info.
